Homecoming

Finally home! I'm sure there are worse things than roaming around the world, but there's nothing like sitting on your own kitchen counter drinking coffee in the morning. We are currently in hurricane season which means everyday, like clockwork, it rains. Actually it pours! But that's not until the afternoons. So in the mornings I have plenty of time to put the board on the jeep and paddle around the island for a few hours. My super secret parking spot is still being seized by men in trucks claiming to do road work, but since we are out of season I don't have to battle anyone for one of the available two spaces they left us to fight over. My first trip out on the water reminded me why I love being raised on the ocean. Manatees, dolphins and rays all made appearances today. I did my part and removed 12 fishing hooks and lines from the mangroves and soaked up every bit of sunlight I could. Tonight I'll listen to the thunder and watch the lightning across the gulf and look forward to the same salt water that welcomes me back every time I'm gone.

My new little starfish friend.
