10 second timer

Life happens so fast and I couldn't be more grateful for where I am. I'm in the middle of a party where I maybe know the first names of 4 people but everyone smiles and asks "so I've heard you've gotten into photography?" I smile as I recall one of the guests is a legit fashion photographer and reply "I'm attempting." I grab my camera, tripod and vodka soda (necessities) and start walking out back to the beach. The sun softly peaks out below the clouds reminding me of peach sherbet slowly melting on a warm summer day.

I set up the tripod and think maybe I can capture a picture of myself quickly. I don't have a remote yet so I set up a 10 second timer on the camera. "If I run I can make it," I think. I press the button and mad dash for the tree stump. I scramble to find a way to sit on this slanted piece of wood without getting a splinter and attempting to look relaxed at the same time. A few attempts and a dozen splinters later I have a photo I'm happy with. Next stop, Bahamas!
